The University of Hawaii (UH) and Chiang Mai University (CMU) wish to advance scientific collaboration in the study of time and latitude variations in the flux of cosmic radiation and provide for the continued acquisition of data essential to this research. UH and CMU have jointly determined that this will best be accomplished by transporting the Thimon neutron monitor from its current location in Thailand to Hawaii. When the Thimon neutron monitor is placed in Hawaii. Hawaii and CMU would work together to plan and seek funding to conduct latitude survey experiments by installing the Thimon neutron monitor on icebreakers and sailing into the Antarctic and Arctic regions.
